Within 5 years, we will be a trusted organization that the Jacksonville
community turns to find services for seniors and their caregivers.
ElderSource in Action will successfully develop services to area businesses,
and be the source for programs related to aging in Northeast Florida. In
order to achieve this vision we will take strategic steps to ensure that
ElderSource in Action develops services that create added public value, protect
seniors and provide value-added programs to all its customers.

The guiding vision for ElderSource in Action: With help from community leaders
and the business community, ElderSource in Action will bring enriching and
engaging services and education to caregivers and seniors. We will serve
businesses, caregivers, seniors and agencies providing services to seniors.
This vision will help identify strategic issues to guide strategy selection
and implementation.
PROGRAMS TO-DATE
CONSUMER FRAUD PREVENTION FOR SENIORS
Consumer fraud is a serious crime. It can be financially harmful and sometimes
devastating, especially when committed against seniors; many of whom are considered
most vulnerable. It’s estimated that five-million cases of elder financial
exploitation occur annually.
In keeping with its mission to empower individuals to age with independence and
dignity, ElderSource in Action, presented the following program on WJCT to inform
seniors on how to BE AWARE, BE ALERT AND BE SAFE. It was aired during May 2010
which was designated “Older Americans Month”.
We addressed the critical issues involved in fraud and exploitation especially
when targeted for people aged sixty and over.
Our focus was on four consumer fraud categories:
