Senior Veteran Help
ElderSource coordinates the Veteran Directed Home and Community Based Services program. This program provides veterans help and the opportunity to hire workers and vendors to help with their daily care needs, such as bathing, dressing, and house cleaning and cooking. Your workers may even be your family members, neighbors or friends. The choice is yours.
Veterans enrolled in this program can make purchases and receive services to help maintain their independence, thereby avoiding the need to go to a nursing home or other long-term care facility.
Available Senior Veteran Help Services:
Some of the services you might receive are:
- Help with laundry, cleaning, meal preparation, shopping and other household chores.
- Assistance with personal care such as dressing, bathing, grooming or bladder and bowel care.
- Aid with home repairs, companion services, non-medical transportation, emergency alert response and maintenance and consumable medical supplies such as nutritional supplements.
You will have a trained Consultant to assist you. You may also choose a representative to manage your budget and help you make decisions regarding your care. Your representative may be a family member or a close friend.
